FILM FEST
INTERVIEW WITH Richard Schertz
How long have you been doing movies? How did you decide to start making movies?
I have been making movies since the 2000s and I have always wanted to work in films and when I was younger, I made home videos with my family.

Why did you do "Distance"?
I made this film after the COVID-19 lockdown and I wanted to do something with a minimal cast and crew.

(If you can say). How much budget did you have to make "Distance"?
I had about a few hundred dollars with the budget for this movie.
Was it self-funded or did you get budget/producers/investors?
The film was self-funded.
How long did it take from the initial idea to being able to release?
This whole idea took about a few months from its conception to its release.
Are you happy with the result?
I am very pleased with the result of the film.
What phase is this project in right now? Are you in the initial phase of sending it to festivals, middle phase or finishing the circuit?
Right now I am sending the project to many festivals and it is still running the festival circuit.
How has your experience with the festivals been? Where do you think they should improve?
The experience with the festivals has been great. I got a few awards from some of the festivals. I can’ say they need improvement because I haven't been to the festivals because we are still under lockdown.
